Millennial Lullaby

Chitter chatter and poisonous banter
Of young bloods trapped in a room.
A vigorous flutter of papers and pens
and mouthing off to the teacher
just because they can.
Lazy, inconsiderate, and stupid to boot
Eighteen and crazy, give them something to do!
Make them engineers or scientists!
Productive youth only please.
Occupy them, so they can’t occupy Wall Street!
Tell them one thing, and then do another.
Make them understand, so they hate each other.

Carla Mary McNamara was born in Rockland County, New York. She currently resides and attends college in the Hudson Valley, where she works at a college library and moonlights as a waitress on weekends.
