Sacred Geometry

In response to Flower of Life Glass Etching by Perception Photography

The ancients saw God in symmetry,
the even Hand defined by the edges
that could overlap in the even fold,
touch your finger to the center line
and you can find the Center of Everything.

Lay the moon over the sun,
lay the Earth in the sun’s shadow,
and watch how geometry can consume
in a way that could only be seen
as evidence of the All Powerful.

Hold your hands together in prayer,
the lines overlapping each other,
so Life and Love run parallel,
raise up the name of what you hold holy—
we have not stepped away from symmetry.

Life, someone said, is a casting off,
but maybe the things we leave behind
are simply the ones that would not align,
as we seek to be our godlike selves,
as we move closer to being one with the All.

I etch circles into the frost on the glass
on January mornings when it seems all is frozen,
looking for the spaces that could match
were my world to fold over,
wondering if I am closer or further from God.
